![]() ![]() Java apps apparently can't adjust their memory as needed as native mac apps can. This was solved by a quick edit of a config file (oxygenmac.sh) in the oxygen directory. My only problem cropped up when I began editing a fairly large XML file - I started getting out of memory errors. They're also adding more options for WYSIWYG-like XML editing, which make it nicer to edit XML files (and to train XML newbies to edit XML files). 9.3 is able to open MS Office XML files in their zipped state from within oXygen. Since I purchased in November, two point releases have come out - 9.2 and 9.3 - and I've been impressed with the steady progress they've made. Its built-in ability to browse and query native XML databases (such as eXist and Mark Logic), SQL databases, and SVN repositories make it a tool for the power user. It's also an excellent XHTML, CSS, and plain text editor. oXygen natively understands (and learns) XML structures, so you'll notice it suggesting element and attribute values as you edit. If you work with TEI, DocBook, or DITA, oXygen ships with up-to-date versions of these schemas and templates. Cardiac or pulmonary condition or disease.I hereby certify that I do no suffer from any physical infirmity or chronic illness which would affect my ability to engage in parachute training and jumping, and that I am not now under treatment for any of the following. But it's unclear how to officially identify or control permanent waivers since TDs can change the posted rules on a hole as they desire for their tournaments even if it goes against best design practice. Ideally, the PDGA would eventually figure out some way to grant an ongoing waiver for an island hole design that is on a permanent course so TDs don't need to get a waiver for each event. Since "requiring the drop zone" restricts the "last point IB marking" option, a waiver is required. Limiting marking to a drop zone or optional re-throw eliminates the "flew over IB or not" judgment call from the tee. This issue came into focus with hole 17 at the USDGC in the early 2000s. The reason island holes with a required drop zone came about was eliminating the need for the group to determine whether a drive barely flew over the inbounds area of the green before going OB. While an island hole with no restrictions on OB marking can be created without waiver, that design is likely not best practice. That goes for "island greens" or any other rules variant, no matter how many years in a row the rule has been in place. If it's not in the official rule book, it needs to be spelled out in detail every time it's used in an event. TDs need to make everything plain and obvious. Without fail, someone always got it wrong because they missed the unspoken implications.ĭetail is important. I've played more than one tournament where the TD said "the green plays as an island" with no further explanation and assumed people knew he meant that you couldn't mark last in-bounds on the green itself and/or you had to go to a drop zone. It would be far better if everyone worked on the premise that "island hole" simply meant the basket/green was surrounded by OB with no caveats or fine print. And I think that's what Chuck is referencing. ![]() Somewhere along the line this shorthand became too common, but it's lazy and it leads to nothing but confusion. Specifically, that "island hole" means that last in-bounds doesn't exist on the island itself and thus OB options are limited. Some folks hear/say "island hole" and immediately assume it means limited OB options. I suspect there's a semantic divide here, through no fault of anyone involved. There are no OB restrictions, however, since you are throwing from OB, from where do you take your next throw if your throw doesn't make it onto to the island? Re-tee?Ĭhuck could you confirm that an island hole by itself does not need a waiver? I was under the impression that only if the TD limits the options once you go OB is the waiver required. I.e., you have to make it across a sidewalk. If you don't make the island, you rethrow from a drop zone but do not have to make the island when throwing from the drop zone.Īfter reviewing the OB pamphlet fo rthe tourney again, I noticed another, de facto, island. ![]() This particular island hole might be one that would be approved. Suggest telling the TD you'll likely be reporting the lack of waiver to the Tour Manager unless TD gets one. Not sure what disciplinary action was taken if any. The TD had to remove scores thrown on that hole (this has always been after the event so far) and report new 17-hole totals for each player to be used for ratings. Here's what's happened the handful of times when an unapproved island hole design, that would not have been approved, was reported to the PDGA by players after the event. The main thing that's required for an island hole to be approved is marking a drop zone within about 50 ft of the IB green where players may move to the first time they land in the OB area surrounding the green. Types of Glasses for Macular Degeneration As the disease gets worse, people experience more difficulty with daily activities, such as driving, reading, writing, and recognizing faces. This can cause blank spots in your vision or cause objects to not appear as bright as they used to be. Some people may not experience much vision loss for a long time, while others lose all vision in one or both eyes.Īs AMD progresses, a blurred spot in your central field of vision grows larger. The progression of AMD is different for everyone. The macula is a small point near the center of the retina that is responsible for creating sharp, central vision needed for looking at objects straight ahead. The ZEDi-10/ZEDi-10FX has a stereo RCA/phono pairing with a level knob for monitoring. But note the latter TRS FX out is from FX sends, not built-in FX wet signal. Your main outputs are XLR with a 60mm master fader, a TRS Auxiliary out that has its own level, and a TRS FX out that doubles as a foot-switch input for muting built-in FX. The eight LED stereo level meters are not as good as the ZED 10's 12, but it is no dealbreaker. Alternatively, you can choose to monitor the FX Send, Aux Send or Stereo 3 in. It defaults to the main mix, but engaging PFL for any channel cuts the main mix monitoring. The 1/4-inch headphone monitoring has plenty of level. Also, you can't route the FX internally to a free channel for basic EQ'ing of effects, or to send FX out via USB. There is a momentary interval when changing presets, a second or two until the next effect is engaged, and this is a little annoying. The ZEDi-8 and ZEDi-10/ZEDi-10FX models' USB port is class compliant for Mac users but PCs require a driver. Stereo 2's level knob is shared with the onboard FX.Īlso, given that a portable and compact mixer such as this is obviously going to appeal to small bars and restaurants, the absence of any RCA/phono inputs is odd. The first stereo channel offers only high and low EQ and 15dB of gain the second and third offer only mix level. The stereo channels aren't quite so fully featured. Keeping things smooth, the MusiQ system automatically adjusts the Q in response to the amount of gain. The original ZED 10's swept-mid band is now fixed with centre frequencies of 80Hz, 600Hz, and 12kHz, which is obviously spec'd for live mixing. With 5-60dB of gain, the mono channels have more than enough juice for sensible purposes, and there are controls for balance, mix level, FX-send, auxiliary send plus a 3-band EQ. We've also got a low-cut button (100Hz) here that works across all four channels. On the next two channels you will find a Line/Pad button that drops the mic input level 20dB.
