![]() Space Engine does do what Elite does in terms of showing off our own universe much better. Whilst you're limited to landing on just barren planets and moons without atmospheres, there's the realistic spin on exploration where you can view specific data of discovered bodies which is modelled along real world "trends" (i.e how likely a star system is to have a certain star type and body composition, based on the distribution of mass of our galaxy, but 150,000 systems out of 400 billion have been manually edited to reflect real world data about them). E:D has a really compelling model of our 400 billion star galaxy, and out of all the space sims i've played travelling to a nebulae in Elite were some of my favourite experiences in terms of exploration. No Man's Sky is better if you're more into "space fantasy", as it's really just a chaotic and wild rendition of a universe. If you liked orreries as a kid, Elite: Dangerous with horizons is great. Star control 2 style or infinite space style? (elite, no mans sky, empyrion, space engineers etc).Īhh. I suppose i'm looking more of a strategy type game, maybe with individual persons involved (rimworld style?) or with mechanics where resources and movement are more important than just jumping around and looking what's there.Įdit: Thanks for all the suggestions, but to clarify i'm not looking for flying about games or survival games. They do have exploration in them, but it's just an afterthought (or part of the flight sim). If i try to ask these things from reddit search or google i just get lists consisting solely of those i already own. I have elite for space flight, i have kerbal for rocketry, i have multiple strategy games (stellaris, sots, endless space, FTL) but i'm looking for games which emphasize on exploration of unknown universe. Old geek here trying to find something to scratch exploration itch and i was wondering which ones could do it.
